Kelchalm - Toboggan run
The snow crunches underfoot, and your breath is clearly visible in the cold winter air. It also becomes noticeably faster, your breath, because it is quite strenuous to walk to the Kelchalm. There are almost 4 km to be mastered uphill and over numerous curves and bends in about 1.5 hours. But the first reward follows immediately after arriving at the Kelchalm, in the Bochumer Hütte. By the warming tiled stove, we treat ourselves to a hot mulled wine and something hearty to eat.
Well-strengthened and warmed up, we then get the second reward for the somewhat strenuous but very beautiful ascent. The rapid descent with the toboggan. And it is truly great to zoom down the mountain in this ancient way, on just 2 runners, with your bottom directly above the snowy ground and at a quite considerable speed. Only one thing dampens the sledding fun: that the descent is over far too quickly.
