The Südberge – a gentle contrast to the rugged Alps
The Kitzbühel Southern Mountains form a gentle, sun-drenched contrast to the rugged peaks of the Hohe Tauern and the Zillertal Alps. Located south of Kitzbühel, they characterise the region with their green grassy slopes, vast alpine pastures and panoramic peaks. A distinctive feature is the rounded shapes formed by the slate rock, which create a friendly, easily accessible landscape – a paradise for nature lovers.
The Südberge – Enchanting Views
From the Bichlalm up to the Gamshag and Schütz, sweeping panoramic views unfold: the striking Kitzbüheler Horn, the historic Hahnenkamm and, in the distance, the majestic Hohe Tauern. Peaks such as the Gaisstein also offer views that will stay with you forever.
The Südberge – Experience nature with all your senses
In summer, the slopes are transformed into a sea of vibrant alpine roses. If you listen closely, you can hear the whistling of the marmots that live here amongst the grassy slopes. The Südberge are a dream destination for hikers and mountain bikers, just as they are for skiers and ski tourers in winter, when the landscape is bathed in sparkling white.
The Southern Hills – a film – and a promise
Our film captures the diversity of the Südberge – but you can only truly feel the magic when you’re there: when the mountain breeze sweeps across the alpine pastures, the peaks glow in the evening light, and you realise that happiness can sometimes be quite simple – a day in the Südberge near Kitzbühel.
The Kitzbühel Formula
Alpine lifestyle and idyllic natural surroundings, rustic tradition and a modern outlook on life: few towns combine these contrasts as skilfully as Kitzbühel. The sporting capital of the Alps became world-famous thanks to the legendary Hahnenkamm Races, yet that is just one facet of the Kitzbühel legend. Rather, it is the region’s incomparable charm – encompassing the towns of Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach and Jochberg – its excellent infrastructure with top-class hotels and restaurants, the wide range of sporting opportunities and the fascinating landscape that make Kitzbühel so unique.
