Women's tennis returns to Kitzbühel: WTA Tour 125 expands the summer of tennis

Kitzbühel continues to write tennis history: After a 33-year break, international women's tennis is returning to the Gamsstadt. From July 13 to July 19, 2026, a WTA 125 tournament will be held at the facilities of the Kitzbühel Tennis Club – integrating yet another sporting highlight into the Tyrolean summer of tennis.

From 1945 to 1993, women's competitions were a fixed part of the Kitzbühel tennis tournament. Legendary names such as Billie Jean King, who triumphed in Kitzbühel in 1971, shaped this era. With the comeback of the women's event, this long tradition is now continued, while also creating a new stage for top-level tennis in Austria.

Tennis fans can also look forward to a unique program: Right after, the Generali Open Kitzbühel (July 18 to July 25, 2026) will follow. This means that Kitzbühel will feature two consecutive weeks of world-class tennis on the schedule. The final matches of the WTA 125 tournament will take place alongside the men's qualification of the ATP 250 tournament – a special experience for all fans who want to immerse themselves in the tournament atmosphere twice.

For players, the tournament is also an attractive component on the calendar: Through close coordination with the ITF tournament in Amstetten, the possibility arises to play two high-ranking tournaments in Austria back-to-back – with short distances and ideal conditions.
