Polo highlights to kick off the year
Kitzbühel is kicking off the New Year with a sporting flurry, featuring no fewer than two polo highlights. The first event is the Kitzbühel Polo Cup, a medium-goal tournament taking place from 8 to 10 January 2027. This will be followed by the main international event, the 24th Bendura Bank Snow Polo World Cup Kitzbühel, from 15 to 17 January 2027.
Equestrian sports that inspire
This world-renowned winter polo tournament combines dynamic equestrian sport with a stylish atmosphere. Against the impressive backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser, visitors can enjoy thrilling matches on snow. Off the pitch, too, the event offers a wide range of entertainment and high-quality dining.
For me, the Kitzbühel Snow Polo World Cup is the best snow polo tournament in the world! I love this event—it’s incredibly well-organized and the atmosphere is amazing!
Interesting facts about snow polo
Polo is a team sport in which four players per team compete on specially trained polo horses. The aim is to hit the ball into the opponent’s goal using a long wooden mallet. In snow polo, the playing field is smaller, so teams consist of three players each.
The snow polo pitch measures approximately 200 x 80 metres. So-called boards mark the boundaries along the long sides, whilst lines mark the goal areas at the short ends.
For marking purposes, the field is divided into seven imaginary lines. Each goal consists of two pylons approximately three metres high and 7.20 metres wide. The goalposts are designed to be movable and give way on contact.
