Interesting facts about snow polo

Polo is a team sport in which four players per team compete on specially trained polo horses. The aim is to hit the ball into the opponent’s goal using a long wooden mallet. In snow polo, the playing field is smaller, so teams consist of three players each.

The snow polo pitch measures approximately 200 x 80 metres. So-called boards mark the boundaries along the long sides, whilst lines mark the goal areas at the short ends.

For marking purposes, the field is divided into seven imaginary lines. Each goal consists of two pylons approximately three metres high and 7.20 metres wide. The goalposts are designed to be movable and give way on contact.
