Ring in the New Year in Kitzbühel

From 30 December 2026, impressive light installations will bathe the historic town centre in a special glow from dusk until 10.00 pm. The light installations will remain in Kitzbühel until New Year’s Day.

On 31 December 2026, luminous street performers will bring the alleys of the Vorderstadt and Hinterstadt to life. With colour, light and movement, they will create magical moments for young and old alike. We will welcome the New Year together on 1 January 2027. From 3 pm, the Kitzbühel Town Band will open the programme with a festive New Year’s greeting, and from 4 pm a varied musical programme featuring a DJ awaits you, accompanied by New Year’s speeches and impressive light installations.

Programme

From 30 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, Kitzbühel will be bathed in festive light. Picturesque building facades, special squares and historic monuments will be spotlighted and atmospherically illuminated. The light installations bring warmth to the winter season, combining architecture, the town’s history and modern illumination into a harmonious overall experience. Discover the moving light installations and let them guide you through Kitzbühel on a journey into a radiant winter fairy tale. 

A colourful array of street performers will entertain the crowds in Kitzbühel town centre on 31 December 2026 and 1 January 2027. From 3 pm onwards, chimney sweeps will parade through the town, spreading festive cheer. Stilt walkers and other performers will captivate young and old alike with their impressive displays. 

The artists have a keen eye for capturing special moments and will delight visitors with an extraordinary programme. As darkness falls, the elaborate costumes come into their own, lending the townscape a magical atmosphere. Let yourself be enchanted and join us in getting into the spirit of the New Year in Kitzbühel. 

On 1 January 2027, the Kitzbühel Town Band cordially invites you to the traditional New Year’s Greeting in the Vorderstadt at 3 pm. Look forward to a festive start to the new year, right in the heart of Kitzbühel’s historic town centre. Alongside the Town Band, a saxophone quartet, a DJ and a violinist will provide a rich variety of sounds. The result is a lively programme that brings generations together and appeals to music lovers of all tastes. Experience a Kitzbühel tradition that fosters a sense of community and welcomes the New Year with joy.

On Friday, 1 January 2027, the festive New Year’s service will take place at 5.00 pm in the parish church of St. Andreas in Kitzbühel. This annual festive mass to bless the new year will be accompanied by music from the church choir and orchestra, providing a dignified setting for us all to pause and reflect together.
