Romanesque parish church in Reith
In 1188 the Reith parish church was consecrated by Saint Aegidius and Saint Sylvester. The 15th century saw the decision to extend the nave in accordance with the High Gothic architectural style of the time. Reith became a parish in 1891. The church was renovated along gothic-baroque lines in 1727; its pews date back to 1732. If you go to the choir gallery you will find a particularly impressive example of a painted Gloria to Saints Aegidius, Sylvester and Sebastian. This ceiling fresco is thought to be an early work by Simon Faistenberger, a famous baroque painter.
